Kary Kankey, a coaching veteran and former assistant coach at MidAmerica Nazarene University, serves as team leader and head coach for the Monarchs.

Kankey comes to the Monarchs with nearly 15 years of college coaching experience. During her tenure at MNU, the team held a record of 55-30 and made two appearances at the NAIA Nationals. Prior to relocating to the Kansas City area, Kankey served as head softball coach for Norfolk State University and Defiance College, where she was responsible for all aspects of the programs, including recruiting, scheduling, and practice planning. Kankey has also served as an instructor at the Bulls/Sox Training Academy in Lisle, IL.

Kankey holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from the University of Dayton and a Master of Education in Sports Administration from Bowling Green State University. She was a four-year starter at catcher and shortstop, and earned 1st-Team Atlantic 10 honors as a senior as a player at UD. She is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and the Alliance of Women Coaches. Kankey lives in Liberty, MO with her husband Jason and their two sons Ryan (9) and Justin (6).

Lindsey Weikel comes from Grain Valley High School where she is the Head Softball coach for the Lady Eagles. She just finished her third year as head coach. Before that, she was the Grain Valley JV coach for one year prior to being named head coach. She started her coach career at Kearney High School as the JV coach under Coach Lorbert. This is her first year at Maple Woods Community College and as a collegiate coach.

Lindsey holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation and Sport from William Jewell College. She attained her Master of Science in Athletic and Sport Business Administration. Her softball career includes being a four-year starter at William Jewell College. She was recruited for outfield then moved to second base mid-year of her freshman year. She excelled offensively at William Jewell and still holds the career records for RBI’s-163 & Doubles-60. Single season records in RBI’s-59 in 2008, doubles-21 in 2007, home runs 16 in 2008, tied with hits- 77 in 2008, and slugging % .721 in 2008. She was named to the Heart of America 1st Team All-Conference in 2006, 2007, & 2008. She was also named to the NFCA All-Region 1st Team in 2008.

She lives in Grain Valley with her husband Austin and their daughter Ainsley who will be 3 in February. She enjoys spending time with family, coaching, and playing slow pitch softball.
