On Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at the Regional Volleyball Tournament in Union, Missouri at East Central College, in the Semifinals, the District #1 seed MCC - Longview Lady Lakers from Lee's Summit, Missouri defeated Wentworth Military College in 3 straight sets, followed in the Finals by downing Northeast Oklahoma A&M, also in straight sets, to go undefeated at 6-0 and capture the 2014, NJCAA Division II, crown for Region 16, District O (Missouri/Oklahoma region).
The Lady Lakers will now travel to compete in the NJCAA, Div. II, National Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona Nov. 20-22, one of only 16 teams in the nation to seek the National title.
The Lakers last visit to Nationals was in 2011 where they placed 8th in the nation under current Head Coach Rob Kaleikau, and then Assistant Coach Marnie Winters.
Three Laker players were selected to the 2014 All-Region 1st Team: Angela Roberts (sophomore, middle hitter), Bailey Rexford (freshman middle/outside/right side/back row, hitter), Miranda Jamison (freshman setter).
Lakers Head Coach, Rob Kaleikau, won Coach of the Year Award, Region 16/District O. He shares this award with Clint Culbertson, Longview Athletic Director; Marnie Winters, Assistant to Athletic Director; and Darin Bower, Assistant Coach.

Over the past nine seasons, MCC-Longview has emerged as one of the premiere programs in the NJCAA.
The program has been ranked nationally, including several years in the top 10, and has qualified four times for the national tournament including two seasons finishing 6th and 9th respectively. MCC-Longview is also a 7-time Region XVI champion.
Additionally, the team was named as an Academic All American team in 2005, 2008, and 2011. Individually, MCC-Longview's athletes have garnered 3 All Americans and 23 All Region honors over the past nine years.
The program now boasts a 9 year record of 234 wins and 112 losses.
