Volleyball News

Heading to Nationals again!

On Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at the Regional Volleyball Tournament in Union, Missouri at East Central College, in the Semifinals, the District #1 seed MCC - Longview Lady Lakers from Lee's Summit, Missouri defeated Wentworth Military College in 3 straight sets, followed in the Finals by downing Northeast Oklahoma A&M, also in straight sets, to go undefeated at 6-0 and capture the 2014, NJCAA Division II, crown for Region 16, District O (Missouri/Oklahoma region).

The Lady Lakers will now travel to compete in the NJCAA, Div. II, National Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona Nov. 20-22, one of only 16 teams in the nation to seek the National title.

The Lakers last visit to Nationals was in 2011 where they placed 8th in the nation under current Head Coach Rob Kaleikau, and then Assistant Coach Marnie Winters.

Three Laker players were selected to the 2014 All-Region 1st Team:  Angela Roberts (sophomore, middle hitter), Bailey Rexford (freshman middle/outside/right side/back row, hitter), Miranda Jamison (freshman setter).

Lakers Head Coach, Rob Kaleikau, won Coach of the Year Award, Region 16/District O.  He shares this award with Clint Culbertson, Longview Athletic Director; Marnie Winters, Assistant to Athletic Director; and Darin Bower, Assistant Coach.

Congratulations to the MCC - Longview Lady Lakers Volleyball Team, and best of success at Nationals !
